One of the must-sees at the Mobile World Congress is of course Samsung. Besides all the cool new mobile devices, they are also presenting very interesting enterprise initiatives.
Samsung demonstrated a tablet application called Dr.Smart. This is an application to be used by doctors for managing their workflow which should lead to an increase of satisfaction amongst patients. By enhancing the communication between doctors, nurses and specialists, the patient’s medical record is always up to date and accurate. Mobile EMR comes with a backend server which stores all data and delivers content to the mobile devices.
The tablet application has four main functions: Patient, Schedule, Inbox and Support. These functions are easily accessible by tabs in the ActionBar. Patient shows the medical information about a patient. With schedule it is possible to view and plan treatments for the patient. The inbox enables collaboration between doctors, nurses, specialists and other medical staffs. Support is meant to find important medical information, such as drug info and treatment procedures.
The second interesting enterprise solution is Smart School. Smart School is an educational solution that enables interactive classes. The teachers’ PC is connected with an e-board. The e-board is something like a Smartboard. But this goes far beyond just displaying class content. The content is stored on a server, which can be accessed by the students on their tablet anytime and anywhere. Furthermore, the teacher has control over the student’s tablet. That way, the student is forced to pay attention to the class.
This was a selection of enterprise solutions demonstrated by Samsung. But from all solutions that were demonstrated I liked these the most. I was really impressed by the quality of the applications that were demonstrated. They were really good. Also, I didn’t expect to see this kind of applications at Samsung. I hope to see more of this in the future.
